Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner Pens

I have never been able to master making lines with liquid liners.  I was so terrible at it that I gave up on liquid eyeliner all together.  I have finally found a solution that works, liquid eyeliner pens. I have also found one that is inexpensive which to me is a double win.  I have nothing but good things to say about elf waterproof eyeliner pens.  They come in many colors and are very easy to use.  What more could you ask for?  Did I mention they are only $1.  The felt tip pen is very soft yet firm enough to make a great line.  I have them in all colors and you should to.  Pick them up at www.eyeslipsface.com.  I also was able to find the black color in Target.
ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen: Black, Ash, Midnight, Teal, Plum, Purple
ELF Eyeliner Pens
I have used all the colors and have not experienced any drying out on the applicator.  The only thing I dislike somewhat is that it can take a gladiator grip to open sometimes but it is only made that way so the pens do not dry out, so its a gift & a curse.

The Truth About Buying Makeup Online

Unless you are a complete makeup junkie (like myself) I always advise people against buying makeup online for a few reasons:

1) Unless you are buying from a trusted authorized seller or the company itself there is no way to prove you are not getting counterfeit merchandise.  If the price sounds too good to be true most likely it is.  EBay is the place most people get burned.  The only exception to this rule is NYX because it is so hard to find in stores.  I do buy that on ebay but only from one seller.

2) The color often is not what it appears on the screen.  If you wear almost every part of the rainbow and don't so much care if a color is off from what you thought you can skip this reason.  Many however stick only to the colors they are comfortable working with so any slight change totally ruins their makeup routine.

3) Sizes of products actually appear different in real life.  Lets get real the average person does not know what .17 oz of product looks like compared to .37.  Get my drift..

4) Never buy MAC from anywhere but the store itself, their website www.maccosmetics.com, or the high end department store counters & website.  9/10 it will be fake from anywhere else.

If none of these rules apply to you, by all means go and save those few dollars by ordering online.  Some of the best places ( and really the only places I shop) are:

HauteLook which is an invite member only daily sale network. They usually have deals you could NEVER beat anywhere.  Join here for free: http://www.hautelook.com/invite/NSci154 . You always know that the items are fresh, authentic, & order will come correct.  The downside is the shipping time (usually no less than 2wks) and the sales only last usually 2days and then its new products & they tend to sell out very, very fast (there is a method to HauteLook that I have perfected that I will share in another post, stay tuned this week)

Ulta- It is just like Sephora however the only difference is they sell both prestige cosmetics and drugstore brands so you get the most out of your shipping cost.  Also, they ALWAYS have good sales...and samples with every order..YAY!!

Sephora- Speaks for itself.  Authentic, great customer service, fast shipping, and pretty decent deals....lets not forget the samples

MAC- some people love and worship MAC.  Yes, the products are great but they almost NEVER have sales...so unless its the holidays or they have a new product I must have, its usually a deal-breaker for me.  I have found dupes to most of their items so I'm happy.

Lorac Single Eyeshadows & Lorac Baked Eyeshadow (drama, insider, chic, posh, social)

I love variety when it comes to eyeshadow but these really have my heart and I didn't expect them to.  Finally one day I got around to using the baked eyeshadow and it was everything I didn't expect. I expected it to be very sheer and not vibrant.  I actually like these more than my other eyeshadow.  You can apply dry for a sheer coverage or apply wet, "foiling" is the term used for that.  When you apply with a damp brush the colors start to pop and look beautiful.  Retail price:$22  On sale now at www.loraccosmetics.com $2.  Two bucks for a high end eyeshadow is unheard of so you better hop on it.  It is totally worth it.  The regular single eyeshadow are ok as well but I just like the baked ones even more.  The matte black I got in a regular shadow is not as black as I would like its kind of like gunmetal.  Some of the single shadows are selling for $3 coming down from their retail price of $17.
The colors for the baked eyeshadow are Drama, Insider, Chic, Posh, & Social.

LORAC ON SCREEN DUO: A Review and overview of product retail $24/ sale $2

I have this in Fame & Fortune (black).  I found this extremely interesting.  In the swivel shut top compartment it is a highlighter color eyeshadow.  The pan is about the size of a nickle I compared it to my palettes and you are definitely getting more that you would in a 120 or 88 palette.  Even having both of those large palettes and dozens of other eyeshadow I was unable to find a dupe, sorry.
As far as the bottom compartment with the black cream shadow eyeliner.  I will say it is way too hard to use as a cream shadow but I love it as an eyeliner.  Everyone gave reviews that it was so dry they shouldn't use etc.  I find that I reach for mine almost every day.  Do I think its worth the retail price ($24) absolutely not that's why I love sales and was able to grab it for $2 and you can too there are a few left at www.loraccosmetics.com.   I rate them a 4 of 5.  While its a good concept I had to take one off because it doesn't do all its functions such as, being a cream shadow. Also check my next review of the eyeshadow before you make that purchase.

My Favorite Cream Eyeshadow: L'Oreal Cream Shadow Paint

Are you on the hunt for a cream eyeshadow that last all day, does not crease, has high intensity color, bendable, and able to be used as a base or alone?  Look no further, L’Oreal Cream Paint is to the rescue.  I have been using this for about 4yrs and needless to say I absolutely love it.  Owning so much makeup has its downsides sometimes because often I have products and forget all about them and how much I loved them.  Last week I found these and fell in love all over again.  Sadly, they are discontinued and I wasn’t going to blog about them because I didn’t want to tease anyone.  However, they still can be found many places online.  I found them on www.target.com for $10.19 , also on Amazon for $5 (shipping included), and on eBay for various prices.
811 Commanding, 813 Witty, 817 Nervy, 809 Lofty

There is plenty of product in the container because I have been using the same ones for 4years.  Also remember a little goes a long way you only need a pimple size of product to cover the whole lid.  You must let it dry (takes about 2min or less) before rubbing your eyes or you are sure to have a mess.   They do come with a brush that is usable but I just prefer to use my fingers with these.  So if primers do not work for you well give these a shot.  They can also be worn alone for a pretty wash of color.  I own Commanding, Witty, Lofty, and Nervy.  My favorite is Nervy and it is perfect to use as a base for a lighter Smokey Eye look

I would defiantly rate these 5 out of 5.  Hurry and get them before their gone!!  Because this is a discontinued product so I do not think they are able to be purchased in-store anywhere but who knows you might get lucky.

Note: there are 2 other colors available that I have not tried, Secretive & Steely

How to Series: How to choose a good powder foundation

Wherever you go to find a powder foundation be it the drugstore or your favorite cosmetic store/ beauty counter it can be quite confusing when it comes to foundations.  Here are some basic things to keep in mind when choosing one:

1) Do they carry a shade that matches my complection.  This seems like a no brainer but many times people go years wearing the wrong shade of powder and they often look gostly or extremly dark.  You always should pick a slightly lighter tone than your neckline for the winter and sometimes slightly darker for the summer

2) Does the brand cater to my skin type? Research, research, research!! Sometime powders will be better for dry skin, oily, etc..  Look for reviews they can make the world of difference.

3) Cost! Not everyone has the means to fork up $30 for a powder foundation...trust me there are some drugstore brands that will be dupes to high end brands you just may have to take a little extra time with your research but it will be worth it and your pockets will thank you.

(Sorry this would not rotate)

My pick: Loreal True Match Powder.  This creates a flawless matte finish that as they advertize is supper blendable.  It can provide up to medium coverage depending on application.  I always use with a concealer for under eye coverage.  It is very lightweight and creates a barely there feeling.  It is my go-to powder for the summer and even with heat and sweat it does not run at all.
